THOMPSON SMITH, CEO & Founder
Thompson Smith graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Criminal Justice/Business. In 1982 he began working as a concert security staff person with Feyline Concerts and quickly moved up the ladder when he assumed a supervisory role. In 1988 Mr. Smith began working at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre and was soon promoted to Operations Director. He retained that position for MCA Concerts until 1990 when he started an Event Staffing Company in Denver, Colorado. Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre was his first and largest client at the time. In 1990, Mr. Smith was hired as the Vice President and General Manager for the Colorado division of D&L Entertainment Services, Inc., and in 2003 he left D&L and started Argus Event Staffing, LLC and Argus Corporate Security, LLC.
As the sole owner of the Argus Companies, Mr. Smith strongly believes in rewarding loyal and devoted employees, so much so that a good portion of his team has worked with him for many years. Taking a more fan-friendly approach to crowd management, Mr. Smith acknowledges the important role of each Argus team member putting a strong emphasis on “best first impression” training.
Smith actively serves as the Chief Executive Officer overseeing the company’s business development and growth. Under his direction, the Argus Companies have become nationally known for delivering high-end customer service to their clients and guests.
Thompson Smith has lived in Colorado since 1968 and grew up in Golden. He is an avid hockey player / coach and is actively involved with youth hockey. Mr. Smith is presently the Vice President for the Littleton Hockey Association (Tier II hockey), a board member of the AAA Colorado Thunderbirds (Tier I hockey), a member of the Denver Sports Commission, and a member of the Young Presidents Organization.
